Flood & Earthquake Insurance
Many homeowners don’t feel at risk for flood. According to the U.S. Government, floods are the #1 natural disaster in the United States. A flood is a general, temporary condition where two or more acres of normally dry land, or two or more properties are inundated by water or mudflow.
Homeowner policies do not provide coverage. The causes of floods are many. They may include things like snowmelt, ice jams, spring thaw, heavy rains, tropical storms, and hurricanes. The solution to protecting your home from the peril of flood is by purchasing flood insurance.
Many homeowners don’t feel at risk for earthquakes. Although more likely in some areas, they can happen anywhere. Earthquake coverage is not automatically covered by a homeowner policy. You can often add this coverage to your homeowner policy at an affordable cost.
